42 year old Texan Bart Bryant won the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club, Atlanta, Georgia. It was the third PGA Tour title for Bryant who scored a runaway win over World Number 1 Tiger Woods.
Bryant won by 6 strokes after posting rounds of a course record 62, 68, 66, and a 3 under par final round of 67 to post a 17 under the card total of 263. Bryant collected $1,170,000 winners cheque to take his yearly earnings to over $3.2 million.
The win moved him into ninth place on the money list behind Tiger Woods who finished the year on top with $10.6 million.
Scott Verplank finished in third place 2 shots behind Woods at 9 under the card while Vijay Singh, Davis Love III and Retief Goosen finished in a tie for third place at 7 under.
Bryant told reporters, ``Well, this certainly exceeded my expectations. I'm very surprised, just as surprised as you are.''
Bryant's 17 under par total of 263 was the lowest in Tour Championship history. He beat the previosu best score set by Phil Mickelson in 2000 by four strokes.
The winning margin was the second biggest of 2005 PGA season, bettered only by fellow Texan's Kenny Perry's seven-stroke win at the Colonial.

Adam Scott is regarded as the most exciting young Australian golfer since Greg Norman. At the age of 23 years, eight months and 12 days, he became the youngest winner of The Players Championship on the US PGA Tour, an event considered by many to be the game's fifth Major.
Scott is a four-time winner on the US PGA Tour. His initial breakthrough came at the 2003 Deutsche Bank Championship after a second round 62 set up a four stroke win and saw Adam break into the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time.
