Campbell leads Target World Challenge

The 2005 US Open champion Michael Campbell is the first round leader at the Target World Challenge after shooting a record-tying nine-under-par 63 at Sherwood Country Club.

Campbell enjoys a two-shot lead over Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke while last year's runner-up, Padraig Harrington from Ireland is a further three shots back after shooting a 68.

Campbell said, "I just went out there and played great,"

"Every fairway seemed like twice as wide, the hole as big as a bucket. Yeah, the greens seemed to be twice as big."

"It's amazing how you get to a certain mindset out there and just go with the flow."

World number 1 Tiger Woods who is hosting the event finished with an even-par round of 72.
