Curtis and Lewis share the first round lead

Former British Open Ben Curtis and JL Lewis share the first round lead at the Buick International being played at TPC at River Highlands, Cromwell, Connecticut. The duo is 1 shot clear of a host of players in a five way tie for third that include last weeks winner of the Reno Open Vaughn Taylor.

The 2003 British Open champion Curtis has struggled to make an impact on the PGA TOUR since winning the claret jug. Curtis who fired a 68 to grab a share of the opening round lead for the fifth time in his career said afterwards, ``The last year or so, there's been no excuse. I come every week ready to play, grind it hard. Just haven't had anything to show for it, except the last couple months.''
