Funk wins skins 27th November 2005

49-year-old Fred Funk became the oldest Skins Game winner when he two putted a birdie on 18 to claim the final $550,000 and six skins at the Trilogy Golf Club, La Quinta. In total he won 15 skins and $925,000 for the weekend, including the whole $700,000 available on Sunday.

Funk, who won $225,000 and six skins on Saturday said, "I played good, but still, it's the timing," after becoming the oldest Skins Game champion since Gary Player, who was 48 when he won it in 1983.

It was Funk's first appearance at the Skins Game after he won the Players Championship in March.

On Saturday, Funk sunk a 25-foot eagle putt from the fringe to not only win $225,000 and six skins but also a car for one lucky fan.

Adam Scott

Adam Scott is regarded as the most exciting young Australian golfer since Greg Norman. At the age of 23 years, eight months and 12 days, he became the youngest winner of The Players Championship on the US PGA Tour, an event considered by many to be the game's fifth Major.

Scott is a four-time winner on the US PGA Tour. His initial breakthrough came at the 2003 Deutsche Bank Championship after a second round 62 set up a four stroke win and saw Adam break into the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time.
