Monty wins European Order Of Merit 30th October 2005

42 year old Scot Colin Montgomerie won his eighth European Order of Merit title on Sunday after finishing tied for third place at the Volvo Masters in Valderrama. Montgomerie finished four shots clear of nearest rival US Open champion Michael Campbell to claim his first European Crown since 1999.

Ireland's Paul McGinley his first title in four years after a final round 67 put him on 10 under. McGinley won by two strokes from Spain's Sergio Garcia, who finished at 8 under the card after a final round 73.

Montgomerie finished alongside fellow Brit Luke Donald and Spain's Jose Maria Olazabal. McGinley lost the final of the World Match Play to Campbell last month. Victory saw him collect 450,445 and move into third place in the Order of Merit.
