Sabbatini steady holding four shot lead

Sabbatini steady holding four shot lead 19th February 2006

South African Rory Sabbatini is cruising to victory in the Nissan Open at Riviera holding a four shot lead heading into Sunday's final round after shooting a 4-under 67 on Saturday.

Fred Couples a two time winner of the Nissan Open shot a 6-under 65 on Saturday to move into second place alongside Craig Barlow.

Tim Clark and Trevor Immelman give the leaderboard some more overseas flavour tied for fourth at 9 under the card.

Sabbatini has already posted two second placed finishes on the PGA Tour this season and is set to post a win that will deflect the attention from his behavious at last year's Booz Allen Classic.

Sabbatini had the misfortune of being paired with the PGA Tour's slowest player in Ben Crane.

By the time the pair had reached 17th fairway, Sabbatini decided he would wait no longer for his playing partner.

With Crane standing over the ball repeating his scriptures until he was ready to strike the ball, Sabbatini had already putted out and was making his way to the 18th tee.

Adam Scott

Adam Scott is regarded as the most exciting young Australian golfer since Greg Norman. At the age of 23 years, eight months and 12 days, he became the youngest winner of The Players Championship on the US PGA Tour, an event considered by many to be the game's fifth Major.

Scott is a four-time winner on the US PGA Tour. His initial breakthrough came at the 2003 Deutsche Bank Championship after a second round 62 set up a four stroke win and saw Adam break into the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time.
