Tiger Woods defends Dunlop Phoenix title

Tiger Woods defends Dunlop Phoenix title 20th November 2005

World Number 1 Tiger Woods successfully defended his Dunlop Phoenix title on Sunday after a birdie at the fourth extra playoff hole. Woods defeated Japan's Kaname Yokoo after a birdie at the 18th to claim his seventh title of the year.

Woods said he was in some doubt with a sore ankle to take his place in Wednesday's Grand Slam event in Hawaii with world number 2 Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson and US Open Champions Michael Campbell.

"It made it hard getting to my left side," Woods said. "I kept trying to drive from my left side like I always do, but the injury wouldn't allow me to do it."

"I hope I'll be able to play. I've got a couple days off, but if I can't go, I can't go."

Adam Scott

Adam Scott is regarded as the most exciting young Australian golfer since Greg Norman. At the age of 23 years, eight months and 12 days, he became the youngest winner of The Players Championship on the US PGA Tour, an event considered by many to be the game's fifth Major.

Scott is a four-time winner on the US PGA Tour. His initial breakthrough came at the 2003 Deutsche Bank Championship after a second round 62 set up a four stroke win and saw Adam break into the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time.
