Wales win WGC-World Cup 20th November 2005

The Welsh duo of Bradley Dredge and Stephen Dodd have won the WGC-World Cup when the final round was abandoned due to heavy rain on Sunday. It was the second time Wales had won the World Cup having won the event in Hawaii in 1987.

The third round leaders pocketed 400,000 each after winning from pre-tournament favourite's England who were represented by Luke Donald and David Howell and the Swedish duo of Niclas Fasth and Henrik Stenson.

Dodd and Dredge shot an 11 under 61 on Saturday in the better ball for a two-stroke lead after 54 holes at the Victoria Clube de Golfe on Portugal's southern Algarve coast. They posted rounds of 61-67-61 for a 27 under par total of 189.

Adam Scott

Adam Scott is regarded as the most exciting young Australian golfer since Greg Norman. At the age of 23 years, eight months and 12 days, he became the youngest winner of The Players Championship on the US PGA Tour, an event considered by many to be the game's fifth Major.

Scott is a four-time winner on the US PGA Tour. His initial breakthrough came at the 2003 Deutsche Bank Championship after a second round 62 set up a four stroke win and saw Adam break into the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time.
