Michelle Wie was disqualified in her professional debut at the Samsung World Championship won by Annika Sorenstam. Wie was disqualified for an incident on Sunday when she took a drop at the par-5 seventh green, she took a penalty drop for an unplayable lie before making her par.
After completing her final round, Wie was escorted back to the drop zone by two rules officials who deemed Wie had infact placed the ball closer to the hole resulting in a two shot penalty, not the one stroke penalty Wie had added to her scorecard.
Wie was disqualified for signing an incorrect card forfeiting the $53,126 in prize money she earned.
Wie said afterwards, ``I learned a great lesson,'' Wie said. ``From now on, I'll call a rules official no matter where it is, whether it's 3 inches or 100 yards. I respect that.''
``I was honest out there. I did what I thought was right. I was pretty confident. If I did it again, I'd still do that. It looked right to me. But I learned my lesson.''
A reporter for Sports Illustrated decided to hold off on informing the officials until 24 hours after Wie had signed her card ensuring the talented teenager would be disqualified in her professional debut

Adam Scott is regarded as the most exciting young Australian golfer since Greg Norman. At the age of 23 years, eight months and 12 days, he became the youngest winner of The Players Championship on the US PGA Tour, an event considered by many to be the game's fifth Major.
Scott is a four-time winner on the US PGA Tour. His initial breakthrough came at the 2003 Deutsche Bank Championship after a second round 62 set up a four stroke win and saw Adam break into the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time.
