World Number 1 Tiger Woods won his sixth tournament of the year when he claimed the WGC American Express Championship defeating John Daly at the second playoff hole. Both players finished at 10 under the card with Woods firing a final round 3 under 67 that included two birdies over the final three holes to force a playoff.
Daly missed a 3 foot putt at the No. 16 to hand Woods his 10th title in the World Golf Championships. Scotland's Colin Montgomerie who led the tournament through the opening two rounds finished in a three way tie for third with Swede Henrik Stenson and Spaniard Sergio Garcia two shots adrift of the American duo.
Woods said, ``That's not how you're supposed to win a golf tournament. We're in a playoff, we're battling, and J.D. played beautifully all week. We should be playing 17. I was thinking I had 160, and I'm hitting a drawing 8-iron.''
Daly, who has struggled with the putter all week said, ``I know Tiger didn't want to win that way. I didn't want to lose that way. It's very disappointing.''

Adam Scott is regarded as the most exciting young Australian golfer since Greg Norman. At the age of 23 years, eight months and 12 days, he became the youngest winner of The Players Championship on the US PGA Tour, an event considered by many to be the game's fifth Major.
Scott is a four-time winner on the US PGA Tour. His initial breakthrough came at the 2003 Deutsche Bank Championship after a second round 62 set up a four stroke win and saw Adam break into the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time.
